fascist states of america

i'll cut to the chase. on monday this week, the united states became a fascist nation, and unlike the stereotypes of leftists like me i don't use that word lightly. donald trump is a fascist, elon musk is a nazi, and the rest of cabinet are no better.

there are dark days ahead for anyone in the usa who isn't a straight, white, cisgender man. project 2025 seems to have something in store for everyone, and that's just the beginning.

it doesn't have to be like this. action can (and must) be taken, and change is possible. i am in communication with individuals in other countries dealing with far-right governments just like this one: protest is hard and progress is slow, but people everywhere are waking up to see their leaders for who and what they really are and, best case scenario, the usa will follow suit eventually.

however, that's the best case scenario. what's more likely, and it makes me sad to say this, is that the citizens of the us will sit back and let it happen. the presidency will play like germany's did in the 1930s, and all most people will do is click "repost" on the occasional anti-fascist post on bluesky.

i do not run analytics on this site, so i have no idea if anyone will see this blog post; but if you, reading this, live in the usa, it is up to you do say something. do something. make someone care.
